Sustainable agricultural and food systems Global Alliance for Food Security and Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty – international partnerships

The German Government is working actively at the international level to combat hunger and food insecurity. Together with the World Bank, the Global Alliance for Food Security (GAFS) (External link) was launched in 2022 during Germany’s G7 Presidency in order to mount an effective response to food crises and coordinate global action.

Since the temporary alliance ended in 2024, the German Government has continued its multilateral engagement, inter alia as a “champion” of the Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty (GAHP) (External link) established by the Brazilian Presidency of the G20. Critical tools adopted by the GAFS have continued to be utilised here. The Global Food and Nutrition Security Dashboard (External link), which was developed within the GAFS framework and pools data on food security, thus creating transparency and supporting the implementation of country-specific prevention plans, is supplemented by social security data and continuously updated for the benefit of the GAHP.
