Germany’s Third Voluntary National Review (VNR) to the HLPF 2025

    Pollutant-free environment Promoting sustainable development and environmental standards at the international level – the Export Initiative Environmental Protection

    Since 2016, the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Action, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) has used its Export Initiative Environmental Protection funding programme to help German GreenTech companies promote their “green” innovations, products and services worldwide. Modern, efficient and resource-friendly technologies are not only drivers of growth and innovation: they also help to improve environmental standards and disseminate environmental knowledge, and thus sustainably improve environmental and living conditions for local communities. The Export Initiative Environmental Protection (EXI) focuses on supporting projects in countries with a strong demand for environmental and resource-efficient technologies and services.

    The funding programme therefore aims to meet the global demand for German know-how, products and services in the GreenTech field. The BMUKN provides targeted funding for German mid-sized GreenTech companies with the aim of ensuring that innovative environmental technologies that are “Made in Germany” are rolled out worldwide.

    By supporting suitable infrastructures, the EXI projects help to deliver green public services and other eco-friendly services. The funding activities can thus establish a basis for market entry and support the development of sustainable partnerships.
