Germany’s Third Voluntary National Review (VNR) to the HLPF 2025

Examples of municipal activities International peer learning at local authority level: The example of the trilateral partnership between Bremen, Durban and Windhoek

The German Government also promotes international peer learning among local authorities. The trilateral partnership between Bremen, Durban and Windhoek is a productive example: Together with its partner cities Durban (South Africa) and Windhoek (Namibia), the German city of Bremen has produced a trilateral report on the state of implementation of selected SDGs.

The report contains a set of indicators that all three cities report on. The report can be used to identify areas where there is a particularly large need for action. On this basis, trilateral cooperation projects can be identified and implemented. Ideally, these projects are in areas where projects have already been carried out on a bilateral level and a transfer of experience to the third partner can take place.
